For people who have done the hotel circuit and want something they will remember.
Some occasions deserve more than the usual triangle sandwich and a polite little cake. Our Indian Afternoon Tea keeps the comfort of the classic, then adds chai, samosas, bhel, Indian sweets, masala scones and a little mischief.
It is not strange for the sake of it. It is proper afternoon tea, made by a proper kitchen, with a very Mandira’s Kitchen sense of generosity. It also makes a very good gift.
A barn, a pool, and a few ghost stories
Silent Pool is a spring-fed chalk quarry with its own legends: a girl called Emma, a king on a horse, and a rumour that it is haunted. Tennyson came here to think. Our barn sits on the track just above it, where pilgrims once walked and cardamom now drifts across the hills. An unusual tea, in a genuinely unusual place.
Good questions, briefly answered
Why is it unusual?
Because it is afternoon tea with an Indian heart: bhel and samosas next to the sandwiches, masala and cardamom scones, Indian sweet fancies, and bottomless masala chai, served in a barn by Silent Pool.
Can I buy it as a gift?
Yes. There is an Afternoon Tea for Two gift voucher you can buy and post or email.
How much is it?
£35 per person, or £70 for two. A Prosecco upgrade is £7.50 per person.
Do you offer a vegan or gluten-free version?
Not at the moment. Do tell us about any allergies when you book and we will help where we can.
