At Mandira's Kitchen everything is cooked by hand, in small batches, in our Surrey Hills barn above Silent Pool. Family recipes, properly sourced single-estate spices, and no interest whatsoever in becoming a factory.
If Mandira's grandmother would not recognise the ingredient, it does not go in. Meals are cooked in the barn, frozen the same day, and sent out in insulated boxes so the flavour survives the journey. Delivery is free over £100.
It is the same food we serve for lunch in the cafe seven days a week, and the same kitchen behind the weekend thali club. Come and eat it here first if you like, then take a stack of it home.
A barn above one of England's strangest pools
Silent Pool is a spring-fed former chalk quarry on the Albury Estate, so still and so clear it looks lit from below. Tennyson came here to think. Agatha Christie's car was found just up the hill at Newlands Corner in 1926. There is a legend about a girl called Emma and a king on a horse, which may be Victorian invention but is told anyway, usually in a lowered voice. Our barn sits on the track just above all of it, where pilgrims once walked the old North Downs way and the smell of ground cardamom now drifts across the hills by mid-morning. Four hundred years a cowshed. These days, something rather better fed.

Yes. Meals are sent UK-wide in insulated boxes so the flavour survives the journey. Delivery is free on orders over £100.

Are there preservatives?
No preservatives and no unpronounceable ingredients. Just fresh produce, family recipes, and meals frozen gently to keep flavour and goodness intact.
Can I buy them at the cafe, and do you do larger trays?
Yes. Take meals home from the shop by the cafe after lunch, no delivery needed. For people coming over, we make larger trays of the most popular dishes, enough for four or ten, to order.
