If you are walking around Silent Pool, touring the distillery or tasting at the vineyard, we are right here. The barn is an old cowshed on the Albury Estate, ready with chai and a good reason to turn a walk into a proper afternoon.
Come for the loop around the pool, stay for Indian Afternoon Tea on the patio, then leave with dinner from the shop in the barn if you are feeling sensible.
One of England’s strangest pools
Silent Pool is a spring-fed chalk quarry, so still and clear it looks lit from below. Tennyson came here to think. There is a legend about a girl called Emma and a king on a horse, and a long-held rumour that the place is haunted. Our barn sits on the track just above it, next to Silent Pool Distillery and Albury Organic Vineyard, a short walk from the North Downs Way.

Can I walk to Silent Pool from the café?
Yes. The pool is a two-minute walk from the barn and free to visit, and the distillery on the same site runs tours.
Is there parking?
Free for customers. Enter your registration at the machine in the car park, then let us know at the café and we will validate it.
How much is afternoon tea?
£35 per person, or £70 for two. A Prosecco upgrade is £7.50 per person.
Do we need to book?
Pre-booking is recommended, especially at weekends, as the barn is small by design.
